For longer, tougher hikes, the Hautes-Gorges park awaits. Deep valleys, among the highest cliffs east of the Rockies, in the heart of the Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve. Hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fatbiking in winter. Daily access fee — check the website to reserve.
Ten minutes by car, a spectacular walk awaits along the St. Lawrence shore. Park at the point on the map, then follow the river north on foot. A tide clock upstairs at the chalet helps you time it: we recommend low tide for an even more dramatic view and shores to explore. Bring warm layers — it gets cold quickly on the water.
Fifteen minutes away, the Port-au-Persil wharf is a must. This characterful little port has superb views of the river and the boats. Kids love watching the vessels. Ideal for a short outing or a sunset. Locals often stroll here — join them.
Besides Tadoussac whales, the region offers beluga and seal sightings from Port-au-Persil and Saint-Siméon. A closer option to discover marine life on the St. Lawrence. Check with local outfitters for departures and season.
The Cap-à-l'Aigle garden is a charming spot near the chalet. Ideal for a peaceful stroll, a flowery break by the river, or a family outing. One of our favourite places to unplug without going far.

About 1h15 away, Fjord en Kayak in L'Anse-Saint-Jean offers sea kayak excursions and expeditions on the Saguenay Fjord. Half-day, full-day, or multi-day expeditions. High-end gear, experienced guides. Book in advance.
Tadoussac is the gateway to the fjord and one of the world's best spots for whales and maritime landscapes. Boat, Zodiac, kayak — several outfitters offer memorable outings. Allow about 1h30 drive. Best whale season: July to October.

The Littoral kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. To stock up and discover the region, we can't say enough about the Route des Saveurs de Charlevoix: a magazine and gourmet trail showcasing producers, artisans, and restaurateurs. Cheeses, meats, vegetables, ciders, and local beers. Check it before or during your stay so you don't miss a thing.
In summer, hunt for wild strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries on the property and on nearby trails. For hours of picking, walk the Snigole path in Clermont. A Charlevoix classic: bring containers and clothes that can get stained. Ideal for families.
Twelve minutes from the chalet, La Malbaie has a Metro and a Maxi for your grocery runs. Ideal for arriving with a full load or a mid-stay restock. Convenient and quick from the Littoral.

On the way in, the beers from Microbrasserie Charlevoix in Baie-Saint-Paul are worth the stop. Our favourite: the Double Dominus Vobiscum.
