Panoramic view of La Malbaie Bay from a chalet living room

Chalets with St. Lawrence River View in Charlevoix

On the heights of Cap-à-l'Aigle, facing the river

Explore

At Charlevoix's latitude, the St. Lawrence is already 20 km wide: this is the estuary, the water turns brackish, tides reach 5 to 7 metres, and whales come up in summer. Seeing this landscape from a chalet over morning coffee changes the quality of the stay itself.

Our chalets in Cap-à-l'Aigle, La Malbaie, are all oriented south-west on the heights above the bay. Depending on the chalet, you see:

  • La Malbaie Bay with the harbour and the Pointe-au-Pic pier
  • The Malbaie River estuary flowing into the St. Lawrence
  • Mont des Éboulements (emblematic peak of the Charlevoix crater)
  • The islands: Isle-aux-Coudres to the south-west, and on clear days, the south shore of the river

The Le Littoral chalet offers the most open view from its rooftop terrace, pool and panoramic living room. L'Embâcle features two 180° terraces (morning and evening) on green roofs. Les Thermes opens to the river from its main living areas.

Frequently asked questions

Do the chalets face the river?
Yes. Our Cap-à-l'Aigle chalets are all oriented south-west, on the heights overlooking La Malbaie Bay. Depending on the chalet, the view opens onto the St. Lawrence River, the Malbaie River estuary and Mont des Éboulements.
Can you see whales from the chalet?
At this latitude the river is already the estuary, and whales come up in summer, though they're best seen up close on a cruise. Tadoussac and the whale-watching departures are about 1 h away. The view itself spans the estuary year-round.
