The Cap-à-l'Aigle garden
Cap-à-l'Aigle, this village annexed to La Malbaie since 1999, was long a prized resort destination. As early as the nineteenth century, ships from the Ontario and Richelieu Navigation Company brought anglophone visitors from Montreal, Ontario, and the United States, drawn by the rugged Laurentian terrain plunging into the river and a light that painters never stopped seeking.
The garden
The Cap-à-l'Aigle garden is a charming spot just minutes from the chalet Le Littoral in La Malbaie, Charlevoix. It is not a grand botanical garden — it is something more intimate, a space of greenery and flowers set on the edge of the St. Lawrence, ideal for an unpretentious bucolic stroll.
You come for the calm, for the flowers, for the river appearing between the plantings. Children run freely. Adults find a moment of disconnection that requires no effort — no hiking, no driving, no planning. Just a walk.
One of our favourite spots
It is one of those places locals frequent without talking about — a neighbourhood secret, of sorts. Perfect for a morning outing before the day takes shape, or a floral pause between more intense activities like the Hautes-Gorges park or a river descent with Katabatik.
Its proximity to the chalet makes it the easiest outing of your stay — a few minutes' walk or drive, and you are there. To discover everything Cap-a-l'Aigle and La Malbaie have to offer, see our La Malbaie rental guide.
