The Ultra-Trail Harricana (UTHC) is run in mid-September in Charlevoix: it starts deep in the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie national park and finishes at the Mont Grand-Fonds station, north of La Malbaie. Eleven distances, from a family 5 km to a 125 km qualifier. For a race weekend, a private chalet beats a hotel room on three counts: you recover at home, you cook your own carb-loading, and the whole team sleeps under one roof.
Our chalets are in Cap-à-l'Aigle, in the host town of La Malbaie. The finish at Mont Grand-Fonds is about fifteen minutes away; the start at the Hautes-Gorges, about forty-five. Close enough for a stress-free wake-up on race morning, far enough to find quiet once the line is crossed. Exploring the region — restaurants, microbrewery, the La Malbaie area — keeps the *crew* busy during the effort.
After the climbing, recovery. The Le Littoral chalet combines a heated pool, sauna and outdoor spa; L'Embâcle adds a pool and spa in the clearing; Les Thermes goes further with a full thermal zone — hammam, dry sauna, spa and rest area. It is the hot-cold alternation of a recovery centre, in private. Regional massage therapists can travel to the chalet by reservation (at your own cost).
For the crew and the family, a large chef's kitchen, a table that gathers everyone and bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms turn the race weekend into a real holiday. To book around the Harricana dates, see our Harricana race offer or call 418-476-1442 — space is limited on race weekend.
